Dim Sum Energy develops, builds and sells utility-scale renewable energy. We hold the land, the permits and the grid capacity; we take projects to financial close; and through Earth & Wire we sell the electricity directly to the businesses that use it.
Who we are
Established in 2018, Dim Sum Energy is a privately owned utility-scale renewable energy development and generation company focused on South Africa's rapidly expanding private power market.
We are not a participant in the REIPPPP. Our development team has nonetheless delivered multiple REIPPPP projects through prior entities, from early-stage development through to financial close, and that full-cycle capability is what we now apply to the private market.
The company is wholly owned by the Dim Sum Trust and private shareholders and has been entirely self-funded to date. It is now engaging with large international strategic investors carrying recognised global credit ratings.
Proof point
Wind Garden was developed by Dim Sum Energy from greenfield through to financial close in December 2024. It was South Africa's first large-scale private utility wind farm to reach financial close on a multi-offtaker basis with variable power purchase agreements. Construction commenced in Q4 2025. The project equity was sold by a Dim Sum subsidiary at financial close.

The portfolio
Our permitted portfolio spans wind, solar PV and hydro, with 500 MW of four hour battery storage alongside it. EnergyFields, the flagship cluster, holds a grid allocation to connect 1.9 GW into two main transmission substations.
Behind it sits a greenfield pipeline of several gigawatts in pre-feasibility and grid connection study, underpinned by more than 400,000 hectares of exclusive land rights.
